NutriChem Pharmacy was created in the early 1980s by Kent MacLeod. It has always been NutriChem's goal to provide health professionals and clients with current research and innovative professional services. NutriChem has surpassed this commitment by constantly expanding its services offered.
Compounding is the basic birthright and building block of the profession of pharmacy.
A compounded product is a customized or uniquely tailored formulation prepared to meet a specific need, such as flavoured medicines, unique administration (such as lolipops and lozenges), veterinarian flavouring, IV preparations, avoidance of additives, and even discontinued medicines.
NutriChem has expanded on the traditional role of compounding to include the ability to customize vitamin, mineral, amino acid and protein supplements. We are all different - we need different amounts of sleep, we have different dietary needs, we have different levels of stress, and we may be predisposed to unique needs due to an existing condition, such as a disease or genetic state - so a generic supplement may not be adequate.
NutriChem designs supplements to meet your specific nutritional and metabolic needs. Blood and urine can give a metabolic picture of your body through testing provided onsite at the NutriChem Biomedical laboratory . This can identify potential nutrient deficiencies, metabolic abnormalities, and oxidative stress. From the results of this testing, a nutritional formula can be created and custom compounded specifically for one person by our qualified biochemists and expert staff.
In 1996 Kent MacLeod's work was honored with the Distinguished Practice Award by the Ontario Pharmacist's Association. He has been invited to speak around the world on topics such as Down syndrome, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, menopause, cancer and has been a featured speaker for the Professional Compounding Centers of America.
The work of NutriChem Pharmacy has been featured on CBC Television's The Health Show, on ABC Television's Day One, in books such as Prescription for Nutritional Healing, and mentioned in countless thousands of patient support groups and websites. In 2003 Kent MacLeod published his first book, thoroughly detailing metabolic and health issues in people diagnosed as having Down syndrome, accumulated from his decades of work with families around the world.
