Cold Sores

Cold sores are a highly contagious viruses caused by herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1). Once the HSV1 has entered our bodies, it never leaves. The virus moves form the mouth to quietly reside in the central nervous system. The first signs of an outbreak is usually a tingling or burning feeling, redness, itching or pain around the lips or mouth. Fever, cold, stress, sunlight or high levels of the amino acid arginine can trigger cold sores.
