Kent MacLeod, B.Sc. Pharmacology
President and Clinical Director

Kent MacLeod is the founder of NutriChem Compounding Pharmacy and Clinic. He is an award-winning pharmacist with 30 years of experience in delivering patient-centered health care.

Shortly after graduating from the University of Toronto, Kent settled in the west end of Ottawa and opened a community pharmacy. Kent vowed to offer his customers a different pharmacy experience – one truly focused on health.

His dedication to wellness has resulted in numerous awards including the Canadian Compounding Pharmacist of the Year Award, the Canadian Innovation Award, the Distinguished Practice Award and the Outstanding Service Award for Innovation.

He is the author of a book entitled: "Down Syndrome and Vitamin Therapy: Unlocking the Secrets of Health, Behavior and Intelligence" and has lectured throughout North America and Europe on children’s health, women’s issues, pain management and pharmacology.

In his current role as Clinical Director of NutriChem’s Biomedical Clinic, Kent works with each patient to ensure they receive the best combination of conventional and natural therapies for health maintenance and disease management.

Dominika Zarzeczny, B.Sc. Biopharmaceutical Science, N.D.
Naturopathic Doctor

Dominika received her undergraduate degree from the University of Ottawa, and in 2008 completed a four-year doctor of naturopathic medicine program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.

As a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, Dominika ran a family-oriented practice in downtown Toronto where she treated a variety of health conditions including infertility, autoimmune diseases, digestive disorders, and food allergies. She has a special interest in mental, pediatric and women's health.

She moved to Ottawa to work at the Natural Health Produts Directorate of Health Canada as a product assessment officer in 2011. She not only contributed her knowledge and experience of natural health products but also gained valuable insight into the role of regulations on consumer safety and product accessibility in Canada.

Joining the NutriChem team in 2012, Dominika provides primary and adjunctive health care to her patients, promoting health and preventing illness, and diagnosing and treating disease through clinical nutrition, lifestyle counseling and botanical medicine. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive and effective natural health care for her patients while teaching the principles of healthy living for long-lasting health.

Dominika is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors and is registered with the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy - Naturopathy.

Lois Carroll, B.Sc. Chemistry
Compounding Lab Manager

Lois is one of NutriChem’s earliest employees - first working alongside Kent in the pharmacy.

As the demand for compounding increased, Lois was put in charge of the compounding laboratory. She now manages a full staff and is responsible for ensuring the laboratory follows Health Canada’s Site Licencing requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices.

In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Carleton University, Lois has advanced her education through multiple courses on pharmaceuticals and compounding.

Nora Munro, Registered Holistic Nutritionist
Store Manager

Having worked in the health field for almost a decade, Nora decided to focus on nutrition. She went back to school and became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, graduating from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.

Nora joined NutriChem in 2008 as the Store Manager. She works with her team of Health Counselors and Nutritionists to ensure customers are given quality care and information in regards to nutrition, supplementation and homeopathy. Nora regularly gives presentations on healthy diets and living gluten-free.

Nora’s love of nutrition and healthy eating inspires us all at NutriChem.

Tim Grainger, B.Sc.Phm.
Pharmacist

A graduate of Bradford University in England, Tim was re-certified to practice pharmacy in Canada in the 1980’s.

Having owned his own pharmacy in Guelph, Ontario for 15 years, Tim likes being hands-on in the dispensary, counseling patients about their medications. He values the ability to compound, which lets him meet the individualized needs of our customers.

With over 30 years in the pharmacy field and an avid interest in natural health, Tim has been a welcome addition to the NutriChem team.

Grace Meehan, B.Sc.Phm.
Pharmacist, Certified NAMS Practitioner

Grace graduated from the University of Toronto in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. She has worked as a community pharmacist in Ottawa for over 20 years, and has been a guest speaker at various health symposiums.

With a keen interest in continuing education, Grace attained the credential of North American Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner in 2010. Ongoing continuing education is required to maintain this credential.

Grace understands that every woman is different and has their own belief system regarding their health. She will work WITH you so that you are feeling the best that you can possibly feel.

Rekha Ishwanthlal, B. Pharmacy
Pharmacy

A pharmacist for over fifteen years, Rekha's vast experience includes work in hospitals, rural clinics, pharmaceutical distribution companies and community pharmacies.

Rekha started her career in South Africa, and is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Rekha has been practicing pharmacy in Canada since 2001.

Since joining NutriChem, Rekha has been taking nutrition courses to advance her knowledge in this field.  She enjoys treating her patients holistically, focusing not just on symptoms, but on total body health.

Debbie Clements, B.Sc. Biochemistry-Nutrition, M.Sc. Biochemistry
Director of Research and Communications

Debbie has been a part of the NutriChem team – twice. Having worked as Health Information Officer for 3 ½ years in the late 1990’s, she returned as Director of Research and Communications in 2009.

Studying at the University of Ottawa, Debbie was the recipient of a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada scholarship for her Master’s research on Vitamin D.

Debbie manages our research and ensures we adhere to government regulations for natural health products.

Jessica Wong, B.Sc. Life Sciences, M.Sc. Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences
Laboratory Coordinator

Jessica joined the laboratory team in April of 2012 and quickly demonstrated her superior analytical skills.

Jessica brings a solid scientific background to her role of laboratory coordinator where she is responsible for the biochemical testing in the laboratory, ensuring the quality and precision of the nutritional and metabolic analyses.

With an active lifestyle that includes competitive soccer and volleyball, Jessica is an excellent proponent of healthy living and believes strongly in holistic approaches to health care.

Laura Service
Clinic Coordinator

Anyone who has visited NutriChem’s Biomedical Clinic will have had the pleasure of meeting Laura. She greets everyone with a smile, and wins people over with her caring and compassionate manner.

With a background in customer service and an enthusiasm for health, Laura joined NutrChem in 2007 and took on the role of Clinic Coordinator in 2008.

Laura enjoys meeting new people and loves her daily contact with the clinic’s patients.

Shelagh Lafloor, Registered Practical Nurse, Certified Phlebotomist
Patient Liaison/Phlebotomist

Shelagh brings over 35 years of nursing experience to NutriChem. Shelagh is the phlebotomist for the clinic, and works closely with our patients to help sort out their health care needs.

Often referred to as the one of the best “people person” you’ll ever meet, Shelagh has a manner about her that instantly puts people at ease.

Having previously worked as an operating room technician, Shelagh enjoys working with the clients at NutriChem who are taking control of their own health.

Christina Teliszewsky, B.Sc. Health Science, Certified Personal Trainer, Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma
Patient Support Coordinator, Health Counselor

A physical fitness enthusiast, Christina has pursued her passion through university and college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa, and a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from Algonquin College. Through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, she became a certified personal trainer.

Christina started working at NutriChem in 2009 as a Health Counselor. In 2011, Christina was promoted to the role of Patient Support Coordinator for NutriChem’s Biomedical Clinic.

Christina’s positive attitude, coupled with her extensive knowledge, helps patients maintain their healthy lifestyle goals.

Joyce Beveridge
Retail Star

No description of the NutriChem team would be complete without Joyce. She has been here since day one providing amazing customer service, taking inventory, tracking sales and making us laugh.

Joyce’s sense of humour and insights on life bring a smile to the face of anyone who meets here (and her carrot cake is phenomenal too!)

Joyce retired in December 2012 after 31 years at NutriChem, but she continues to maintain a special place in our hearts.
