In 1983, Kent MacLeod, pharmacist and owner of NutriChem, was approached by a group of parents seeking assistance for their children with Down syndrome.  Guided by the work of Dr. Henry Turkel, Kent formulated a dietary supplement product called MSB.

For 2013, NutriChem is pleased to announce the release of the latest version of MSB: MSB Methyl Plus 4th Generation.

Incorporating the most recent advances in Down syndrome research and innovations in the nutraceutical industry, NutriChem is committed to providing a superior quality product to support the nutritional needs of individuals with Down syndrome (click here for a PDF copy of the MSB Methyl Plus 4th Generation brochure).

What you can expect from MSB Methyl Plus 4th Generation:

Quality: Premium ingredients. No artificial colours or preservatives. NutriChem is a licensed pharmaceutical and compounding facility that follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Enhanced Taste: In their natural state, vitamins, minerals and amino acids do not have a pleasant taste. However, MSB Methyl Plus 4th Generation comes in four great varieties, naturally sweetend with stevia:

Juicy Grape, Funky Fruit Punch, Orange Blast, and Watermelon Rush (unflavored and capsules are also available).

We guarantee that you have never tasted a better vitamin formula than MSB Methyl Plus 4th Generation.

Health Support: MSB Plus is not a cure or treatment for Down syndrome. It provides the essential vitamins and minerals that we ALL need for a healthy body. Plus it contains additional nutrients that may support the metabolic issues resulting from the presence of the 21st chromosome.

The MSB Methyl Plus 4th Generation formula combines vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants with a special emphasis on methylation support.

Through parent networks, consultations, conference presentations, and research projects the NutriChem team has had the pleasure of meeting countless dedicated parents and fantastic kids.

We are particularly proud of how the parents of children with Down syndrome have helped shape our education and research efforts:

  • NutriChem published a scientific paper that examined the role of oxidative stress in children with Down syndrome. In the first ever in vivo (or living) study on oxidative stress in individuals with Down syndrome, our testing laboratory examined 166 children with Down syndrome and their siblings as controls. Blood and urine analysis showed increased levels of oxidative stress in individuals with Down syndrome, and decreased levels of antioxidants and glutathione.

  • In 2003, Kent published a book detailing the metabolic issues of Down syndrome. Down Syndrome and Vitamin Therapy is written in an easy to understand way for the families that have motivated Kent’s work for the last twenty-five plus years. We are pleased to offer Down Syndrome and Vitamin Therapy in both hard copy and e-book form. Complimentary copies available.

  • NutriChem enlisted the services of Dr. Marie Peeters-Ney to independently study the effects of MSB Plus on children with Down syndrome. Dr. Peeters-Ney had previously worked with Dr. Jerome Lejuene (who discovered the cause of Down Syndrome), studying amino acid deficiencies in Down syndrome. The study focused on biological, developmental and immune issues before and after supplementation with MSB Plus. Dr. Peeters-Ney concluded the use of MSB Plus resulted in a 50% reduction of infections and a 65% increase in overall health of children with Down Syndrome (unpublished research).

NutriChem believes in maximizing potential through laboratory testing and nutritional interventions on an individual basis. Because each child is unique, a customized formula can be made using laboratory test results to match your child's unique nutritional needs.

We can consult with you on existing test results from your child’s health care practitioner or you can use the services of our Biomedical Clinic. NutriChem’s Body Chemistry Balancing Test for children under age 12 includes measurements of antioxidants, urinary organic acids (which looks at energy production and vitamin deficiencies), iron stores, zinc, copper, Vitamin D, and vitamin B12.
