In 1983, Kent MacLeod, pharmacist and owner of NutriChem, was approached by a group of parents seeking assistance for their children with Down syndrome.  Guided by the work of Dr. Henry Turkel, Kent formulated a group of dietary supplement products, referred to as MSB.

• NutriChem published a scientific paper that examined the role of oxidative stress in children with Down syndrome. In the first ever in vivo (or living) study on oxidative stress in individuals with Down syndrome, our testing laboratory examined 166 children with Down syndrome and their siblings as controls. Blood and urine analysis showed increased levels of oxidative stress in individuals with Down syndrome, and decreased levels of antioxidants and glutathione.
  
  
• In 2003, Kent published a book detailing the metabolic issues of Down syndrome. • NutriChem enlisted the services of Dr. Marie Peeters-Ney to independently study the effects of MSB Plus on children with Down syndrome. Dr. Peeters-Ney had previously worked with Dr. Jerome Lejuene (who discovered the cause of Down Syndrome), studying amino acid deficiencies in Down syndrome. The study focused on biological, developmental and immune issues before and after supplementation with MSB Plus. Dr. Peeters-Ney concluded the use of MSB Plus resulted in a 50% reduction of infections and a 65% increase in overall health of children with Down Syndrome (unpublished research).
