What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural method of treatment that uses diluted doses of herbs and minerals to stimulate the body's own healing mechanism. It is based on the discovery made more that 250 years ago by German physician Samuel Hahnemann that natural substances may cure the same symptoms it can cause. This method focuses on the underlying imbalance or disturbance that cause the symptoms rather than just treating the symptoms.
Homeopathy is used in nearly every culture in the world. The Britain's Royal Family have used homeopathy since Queen Victoria's reign. Homeopathy is regulated under Health Canada's Natural Health Product Regulations.
How safe is homeopathy?
When administered correctly, homeopathic medicine is safe and gentle. Homeopathic remedies are non-toxic, free from side effects and safe even during pregnancy and breastfeeding. They do not interact with prescription medications and can be used by people of different age groups.
Simple rules for taking homeopathic remedies
Homeopathic remedies should be taken 30 minutes before or 1 hour after eating. The mouth should be clear of foreign flavors. The granules are to be dissolved in the mouth, not swallowed or chewed. If the remedy is in a liquid form, it should be kept in the mouth 30 seconds before swallowing.
