    Each capsule provides 50 mg of thiamine, a vitamin that creates energy from food. In addition, this supplement contains calcium, a mineral that promotes strong bones and teeth while helping your nerve cells send messages to each other. Meanwhile, phosphorus is another mineral that supports nervous system communication.
    Low levels of thiamine can develop as a result of crash dieting, being fed through a tube, excessive alcohol drinking, and eating lots of processed foods. If you follow a high-carbohydrate diet, are taking a long-term course of antibiotics, or taking oral contraceptives, you'll also be at risk of a thiamine deficiency. A shortage of thiamine can cause you to suffer from uncomfortable symptoms like loss of appetite, tiredness, poor digestion, and long-term constipation.
