The important role of healthy dietary fat for female fertility

When it comes to fertility, the F word is a good word! F is for fat, specifically clean sources of polyunsaturated and omega 3 fats. For years, we have been told that fat is bad and that it contributes to many diseases including heart disease, cancer and obesity. Recently, however, the recommendations regarding fat have shifted. While they continue to recommend staying away from bad fats such as trans-fats, more and more natural health practitioners are recommending their patients regularly consume healthy fats. Healthy fats are especially important when it comes to female fertility. 


Healthy fat plays a crucial role in hormone production and balance. Many people don’t know that hormones are actually partially made from fat. Therefore, if the diet is low in healthy fat, hormone production is negatively impacted. Additionally, man vitamins, including some that are important for fertility, are fat soluble. This means that incorporating a variety of healthy fats into the daily diet will increase the absorption of these vitamins.
