Tryo-Trypt has the proper amount and ratio of tyrosine and 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) to support mood and balanced brain chemistry. Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid that is involved in protein synthesis and acts as a precursor for the synthesis of the catecholamines epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine, the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, and the pigment melanin. Because it is a precursor in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine, tyrosine acts as a mood elevator and may be helpful against chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression and headaches. 5-HTP is a substance that is created naturally in the body from the amino acid tryptophan. As a supplement, 5-HTP is obtained from the seeds of an African plant called Griffonia simplicifolia. It has been shown to elevate serotonin naturally in the brain helping with depression, sleep and other mood disorders.
Medicinal Ingredients - Each vegetarian capsule contains:
|5-HTP (Griffonia simplicifolia, grain)||37.5 mg|
|Vitamin B6||9.4 mg|
Non-medicinal ingredients: hypromellose, gellan gum and potassium acetate
Adults: To promote mood balance, take 2 to 3 capsules 3 times daily. Take with food.

Note: Tyro-Trypt should be taken with a high carbohydrate food or liquid such as orange juice, so that it does not have to compete for absorption with other amino acids.
Caution: Consult a healthcare professional prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are taking antidepressants. Consult a healthcare professional prior to use if you are taking cabidopa or drugs/supplements with serotonergic activity. These may include, but are not limited to, L-tryptophan, S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), St. Johnwort, antidepressants, pain killers, over-the-counter cough and cold medications containing dextromethorphan, anti-nausea medication and anti-migraine medication. Consult a healthcare professional prior to use if you are following a low protein diet. Consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist or worsen. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if you show signs of weakness, oral ulcers, or abdominal pain accompanied by severe muscle pain or if you experience skin changes. To minimize the risk of gastrointestinal side effects, start dosing at 50-100 mg, 2-3 times per day, slowly increase to the effective dose over a 2 week period. Do not use if you have scleroderma.
